Crete has an amazing and varied history, with a huge number of archaeological and historic sites of interest dating from the Neolithic period. The Minoan palaces and their finds are of course most famous, but there are plenty of other Minoan, Hellenic and Roman remains to explore as well, not to mention the amazing discoveries now housed in the museums around the island.
